Bike Patrol

Unit Overview

The East Pennsboro Township Police Department utilizes bicycle and electric bicycle (E-Bike) patrols as an additional means of providing effective, accessible, and community-oriented police services throughout the Township.

Bicycle patrols allow officers to access areas that may be difficult to reach using traditional patrol vehicles, while providing greater mobility and visibility in neighborhoods, parks, trails, community events, and other public spaces.

The use of E-Bikes further enhances this capability by allowing officers to cover greater distances and navigate varying terrain while maintaining the flexibility and accessibility of bicycle patrol.

Core Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Providing officers with increased opportunities to interact with residents, business owners, and visitors in a more approachable setting.
  • Increased Visibility: Maintaining a visible police presence in neighborhoods, parks, trails, and areas with significant pedestrian activity.
  • Accessibility and Mobility: Allowing officers to patrol areas where traditional police vehicles may have limited access.
  • Special Events: Supporting community events, festivals, parades, and other public gatherings.
  • Proactive Patrol: Providing an additional resource for crime prevention, traffic safety, and addressing community concerns.
